Tata Steel and Tata Power have been named among the World’s Most Ethical Companies by Ethisphere Institute, the US-based global leader in defining and advancing standards of righteous business practices. The designation of World’s Most Ethical Companies recognises organisations who go beyond making statements about ethical business. Tata Steel has been recognised three times earlier in 2012, 2013 and 2015. The other Indian company recognised among the World’s Most Ethical Companies is Wipro. Among the easily recognisable names across the world are Accenture (Ireland), L’Oreal (France), Shiseido (Japan), Ford, Intel, Levi Strauss & Co, LinkedIn Corporation, MasterCard and Visa (all US). In 2016, 131 honorees were named by Ethisphere Institute spanning 21 countries and five continents and representing over 45 industries. This year marks the 10th anniversary of Ethisphere 

Panasonic smartphone

Panasonic India launched T50, a new addition to its T-series of smartphones, in Ranchi on March 10 as part of its nationwide launch. Informing this, D.S. Basu, the company’s regional manager in Ranchi, said the model was available at retail stores priced at Rs 4,990. With dual SIM, the Panasonic T50 also boasts a 5MP rear camera and a 2MP front camera. The model runs on Android 5.1 operating system, has 1.3GHz quad core processor with 1GB RAM and 8GB internal memory. Connectivity options include Wi-Fi 802.11b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.0 and 3G. The phone is backed by a 1,600mAh battery

Fair opportunity

The preliminary round of interviews for the 12th edition of the Fair and Lovely Foundation scholarships was held in Calcutta on March 9 with overwhelming response from candidates from across Jharkhand, Bihar, Odisha, Assam, Chhattisgarh and Bengal. Fair and Lovely Foundation, an initiative since 2003 by the beauty brand from Hindustan Unilever Ltd, over the years has awarded scholarships of up to Rs 1 lakh to deserving women. The Foundation aims to give women scope in higher education, vocational training and entrepreneurship

Retired, but not forgotten

Central Coalfields Limited (CCL) extended treatment facility to its retired executives at the outpatient department of its hospitals. A statement recently issued by the company stated treatment facility for retired executives would 
be treated as non-entitlement cases. Those availing treatment would have to pay for it. However, they will also be reimbursed their medical expenses under the existing company rules
