Fashion show in Bokaro Probe Convention Condemned CBI arrest Camp postponed Chhau dance Thumbs Up

Fashion show in Bokaro

For the first time in Bokaro, a national-level fashion show “Jharkhand Fashion Week” will be organised from June 12 at Bokaro Club. Top ramp models Shweta Menon, Aditi, Neha Dhupia and Gul Panag will participate in the show. The function will be organised by International Institute of Fashion Technology (IIFT), which would present its summer collection. There will be nine rounds in which casuals and summer dresses would be displayed.

Probe

Taking serious note of the reported incidents of torture of a woman after being branded a 'witch' in the state, the National Commission for Women (NCW) sought a report from the government on the incident. Sivwati was branded “witch”, dragged out of her house, beaten, tortured and forced to consume human faeces, in Ranchi. Sivwati, who was of the Junwati caste, reportedly remained motionless for four hours because of broken bones.

Convention

The one-day convention of Jharkhand Vananchal Congress will be held in Town Hall, Ranchi, on May 30. Spokesperson Akhauri Pushpa Lata Prasad said the science and technology minister will be the chief guest. Various organisational issues will be discussed at the convention.

Condemned

State Intuc secretary Ajay Rai and former Jharkhand Pradesh Youth Congress general secretary, has condemned some of the political parties for trying to divide the people on the Adivasi-Moolvasi issue. “There are some parties who are trying ro give a political colour to the issue,” he said.

CBI arrest

The Central Bureau of Investigation arrested P.N. Mathur, a retired director technical of the BharatCoking Coal Limited (BCCL), on Wednesday. Mathur was arrested under an old warrant in which he was accused of hiding important official papers.

Camp postponed

The Summer Camp, which was scheduled to be organised by the Agarwal Sabha on May 28, has been postponed to May 29 on account of the Ranchi bandh on Wednesday.

Chhau dance

The culture department will organise a Chhau dance presentation at the open air auditorium of the Ramakrishna Mission on Tuesday. The workshop concluded on Wednesday.
