Jamshedpur, May 2: After burning the midnight oil for their board examinations, it is possibly the right time for students to relax and chill out. Instead, many are enrolling for various vocational courses and other activities to keep themselves occupied.

While aspiring doctors and engineers are preparing for entrance exams, many students are enrolling for short courses in their desired career.

Tanmoy Chakraborty, keen to be a lawyer, has already joined the Law School Tutorials in Calcutta to get his fundamentals clear on the legal profession after his Plus Two exams this year. “The tutorial helps students who wish to pursue law as their career to understand the subject and how to go about giving entrance exams. It teaches the most basic things that are important for a beginner,” said Tanmoy.

With minimal pressure on the students after their board exams, the time is best suited to get involved in courses like these, said students.

Students of Loyola School, Sharabjeet Singh, along with his friend Ainesh Mukherjee, are among the many aspiring chartered accountants taking up the course. “Joining this course helped me find a stable career and utilise my time while preparing for the common proficiency test,” Sharabjeet said.

While the career-oriented are toiling it out, a few are enjoying free time. While a few have taken to sports, Shalini Sharan, student of Sacred Heart Convent School, has already been admitted to a college abroad. She is now learning something new.

“After my board exams, I took up horse riding classes for fun. Also, I am trying to overcome my fear of big animals,” said Shalini.

Mayank Jaiswal of DBMS School does online trading and investment because of his interest in commerce and computers.
