Dhanbad: The construction work of the 160-bedded super-specialty wing in Patliputra Medical College and Hospital, Dhanbad, is likely to be completed next month.
Equipment, including CT scan and MRI machines, have already arrived at the hospital for installation.
"We will hold meeting with the supplier of equipment, contractor and officials of the central public works department on March 7 and accordingly the installation work may be carried out," principal of PMCH, Dhanbad Arun Kumar said.
The super-speciality facility will have six departments specialising in neurology, neurosurgery, cardiology, burn and plastic surgery.
"The construction of the five-storey building of the super speciality wing is likely to the completed next month. Though the construction was scheduled to be completed in December, it was stalled for more than five months last year owing to a land dispute with the local residents and PMCH administration. But we have won the legal battle and the construction is going on at a fast pace." Kumar said.
A representative of Delhi-based contractor HR Builders said the construction remained suspended for five months between September 2017 and January 2018.
"We now expect to hand over the building to PMCH by April," he said, adding that out of the total cost of Rs 86 crore, around Rs 59 crore is meant for civil construction and the rest for electricity work.
The centrally air-conditioned facility will be equipped with a 40-bedded intensive care unit besides eight operation theatres and a mortuary.
Construction of the facility had begun under Phase III of Pradhan Mantri Swasthya Sur-aksha Yojana (PMSSY), which aims to correct the regional imbalances in the availability of affordable and reliable tertiary healthcare services and augment facilities for quality medical education in the country.
The PMSSY scheme plans to upgrade 39 government medical colleges, including PMCH, in phase III.
