The capital will boast three Tricolours fluttering from a height of 100 feet during the Global Investors' Summit on February 16 and 17.

The one in Pahari Mandir, atop Ranchi Hill, which is at a height of 293 feet, is also likely to be hoisted in honour of the summit.

Three new flag masts, each 100-feet tall, have been erected at Birsa Munda Airport, Project Bhavan, the block of secretariat offices in Dhurwa, and summit venue Morang Gomke Jaipal Singh Munda Mega Sports Complex in Hotwar.

Bajaj Electricals has put up the three flag masts.

Company engineer Manoj Kumar said preparations to hoist the three national flags during the summit were in the final stages.

Each flag is of 20 feet by 30 feet, he said.

"It took us around 15 days to erect the flagpoles. We started the work in January-end and completed it yesterday (Wednesday). The three national flags have been brought from Pune in Maharastra. The flags will hoisted simultaneously with the help of a motor on February 16. Trials for hoisting the flags will be completed by February 13," the engineer said.

However, he said the dignitaries who would unfurl the flags at the three venues had not been decided.

Contractor Naveen Kumar said Rs 38 lakh had been spent on the project.

"The foundation of the flag staff is seven feet deep and its diameter is 3 feet, 8 inches," the contractor said.

Pahari Mandir Vikas Samiti has also planned to hoist the giant Tricolour during the summit. The Samiti was asked to hoist the Tricolour, which used to tear frequently due to windspeed on the high altitude, and stayed in half-mast for days due to a technical glitch, only on special occasions by Jharkhand High Court.

"As the summit is also a special occasion for us after Independence Day and Republic Day, we have planned to hoist the flag on February 16 and 17. Soon a final decision will be taken in this regard," said Ranchi DC Manoj Kumar, who is also ex-officio chairman of Pahari Mandir Vikas Samiti.
