Ranchi, July 25: The Communist Party of India (Marxists-Leninist) today alleged that the controversy involving Sibu Soren was part of the BJP’s gameplan to sow differences in the Congress-JMM (JMM) alliance.

Mahendra Prasad Singh, MLA from Bagodar in Giridih, told newspersons today that the episode shows how the political parties use the judiciary for their own interests.

Singh wondered why, after the storm over the Union minister, other accused ministers should not be punished by the judiciary. Singh said, “When a case can be taken up after 29 years, why is there no action on cases, which don’t even go back ten years?”

“Why has the judiciary neglected cases of ministers like Narendra Modi, who was involved in the Gujarat riots, and Lal Krishna Advani for his role in the Babri Masjid demolition? No action has been taken against these ministers. Isn’t that a degeneration of democracy? No action has been taken against Congress leader Jagdish Tytler, who is an accused in the 1984 riots in which Sikhs were killed mercilessly.”

Singh warned that the use of the judiciary for vested interest by the different parties will prove dangerous for the country. “Actions should be taken against all the leaders who have been accused in any case,” said Singh.

Commenting on the promise to withdraw cases against those involved in the Jharkhand movement, Singh said, “Babulal Marandi had taken up the issue in the Assembly but he did not implement it. When Arjun Munda took over, he used it as a political weapon. Cases on those in the ruling alliance were taken back but others were not spared. Isn’t that discrimination?”

Singh also said after the Soren episode, all parties should come forward and help build a democratic framework in the country.
