Software to replace need for tuition

Jamshedpur, Feb. 28: Students of ICSE and CBSE schools can now do away with tuition. Unitek, a software company, has specially designed syllabus-based educational software for students of these two boards.

Managing director of Unitek Software Private Limited, T.K. Chitharanjan, who was in the city today, said that the company would market the software that would help children from kindergarten to Class XII.

The software would have two versions. One (costing Rs 1,950) would be for students from Lower KG to Class IV and the other (costing Rs 2,950) for students from Class V to VIII.

The software would cover all subjects, including science and maths, according to the CBSE and ICSE curriculum. It would contain texts, animations, exercises and activities to make learning fun. The software would also have a database of 30,000 questions for medical and engineering entrance examinations.

The software is currently used in Kerala, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh and Maharashtra. Jharkhand will be the first state in the eastern region of the country to introduce the syllabus-based education software.

The software would be formally launched here in the third week of March.

The software has a provision of updating the syllabus as and when required.
