Dhanbad: It was curtains for the two-day talent show at DPS-Bokaro on Tuesday, but memories will linger for long.
Over 200 students representing 18 different schools from across the country took part in a host of competitions during the fourth edition of Shabd, the annual inter-school fest, organised by Delhi Public School (DPS)-Bokaro, which concluded on Tuesday.
In quiz, two teams from the host school won the first two positions while the third position was shared by DPS-Hazaribagh and DPS-Ranchi.
In debate, Pune's B.K. Birla School won the first position, DAV-Hazaribagh bagged the second while the third position was shared by DPS-Bokaro and Holy Cross-Bokaro.
In the creative writing competition Shranya Sharma of MCG School-Ajmer emerged the winner while Thyag Raj of DPS-Bokaro bagged the second position. The third position in the creative writing contest was shared by Neerav Ravi and Shally Kumar of DPS-Gaya and DPS-Ranchi respectively.
In the visual art installation contest, the DPS-Gaya and the DPS-Chas teams won the 1 st and 2 nd positions respectively while the BVM-Nainital and DPS-Bokaro teams shared the 3 rd slot.
In the short play enactment contest hosts DPS Bokaro won the first position while MCGS-Ajmer and Sarla Public School-Ranchi won the joint second prize. The third prize went to MGM-Bokaro and DAV Public School-Hazaribagh.
In Open Class, an impromptu speech competition, Fatima Zohra of DAV-Hazaribagh clinched the top slot while Nafisa Singh Rajput of MCGS-Ajmer and Himanshu Kumar Jha of DAV Public School-Bokaro won the second and third prize respectively.
Speaking at the concluding function as chief guest, former CBSE chairman Ashok Ganguly stressed on the need to keep pace with technology and adapt to current trends.
He however advised students not to remain glued to televisions and mobile phones and instead spend time in outdoor sports as well.
Host principal Hemlata S. Mohan said, "National events like Shabd play a pivotal role in grooming ingenuity inherent in the children and promotes their expertise."
Event convener, Pranab Mukherjee, said, "With changing trends in global educational, students need to keep pace."
