Bokaro, Dec. 27: Steel Authority of India Limited engineer working in Bokaro, who was nabbed by the Delhi crime branch for allegedly creating obscene profiles of women in social networking sites and even calling or sending them MMS and harassing them, has been suspended from job.
The managing director of Bokaro Steel today suspended Vivek Kavat and sent an information in this regard to the SAIL corporate office in New Delhi.
The decision to suspend the errant engineer was taken after the crime branch sent a letter to SAIL as well as Bokaro Steel management to take stern action against the 30-year-old Kavat, who was arrested on December 22 from his Shalimar Bagh residence for sending lewd messages and clipping to hundreds of girls.
Several driving licences in fake names, 25 SIM cards of different mobile companies, names and addresses of nearly 20,000 women of Bokaro, Dhanbad and Delhi were seized from him.
SAIL sources said Vivek, who had passed out of Delhi College of Engineering before joining Bokaro Steel, allegedly forced women to talk to him over phone, and if they objected, he would post their profiles on social networking sites introducing them as call girls.
Additional commissioner of Delhi police Satyendra Garg said a kidnapping and ransom demand angle was also being looked into.
