Ranchi, May 19: Ranchi police today attached property of one of the directors of Sanjeevani Buildcon Private Limited — the haul included framed photos of the official posing with celebrities — which is at the centre of the biggest realty scam in the state capital.
Starting around 10.30am, the freeze began on property worth around Rs 50 lakh that belonged to Shyam Kishore Gupta at his Basant Vihar flat in Argora police station area.
The attachment list included furniture, a television set and refrigerator and many framed photographs in which Gupta is seen with the likes of Governor Syed Ahmed, Speaker C.P. Singh, model Diana Hayden, cricket icon Mahendra Singh Dhoni and singing legend Asha Bhosle, besides several others.
The police left at 4.15pm.
Chutia circle inspector Arwind Kumar Sinha, who is appointed nodal officer to monitor cases registered against Sanjeevani Buildcon, said, “The property came loaded in two big trucks and were kept at Argora police station and the newly constructed building of Jagannathpur police station.”
Customers have lodged more than 175 FIRs against Sanjeevani Buildcon at police stations across the district.
On Thursday, police had attached the property of the realty firm’s technical director Arwind Singh near Singh More in Jagannathpur police station area.
Household items worth around Rs 15 lakh were attached. A day earlier, property of Abdul Wahab, director (administration) and his son Shami Khan, who is manager (marketing), were attached. The father-son duo was living in a flat in Tayyaba Apartments in Kantatoli.
On Monday, property of Anamika Nandi, who is one of the directors and the second wife of MD Jayant Dayal Nandi, was attached near Cheshire Home in sadar police station.
“The attachment of property will continue, as the court had issued an order permitting it on May 10,” Sinha said.
The purpose of our action is to mount pressure on the absconding officials to surrender before court and face trial in the realty scam that has shattered the dreams of many people who hoped to own houses in the city.”
