Ranchi: The management committee of Shri Manokamna Shiddha Hanuman Temple is yet to relocate the shrine eight days after the Ranchi Municipal Corporation had served them a notice setting a deadline of March 4 for the shift.

On February 28, the RMC had pasted a copy of the order on the temple premises warning that the committee would be charged with demolition cost if the notice was not complied with.

The Telegraph had published the report on March 1.

RMC sources said the civic body had decided to defer the relocation plan till Ram Navami celebrations, during the last week of April, were over.

"We don't want any trouble at this moment because some people are working behind the curtains create a controversy. We had issued them a notice through Ranchi district administration too," the official said.

Set up in 1984, the temple is located in the middle of a 74 decimal plot known as East Kutchery market in Kotwali where Jharkhand Urban Infrastructure Development Company (JUIDCO) is constructing the new G+7 RMC building worth Rs 34 crore.

"We will handle the matter in a wise administrative manner. The new temple is under construction on the same premise and once completed, the idol will be shifted to the new shrine," municipal commissioner Shantanu Kumar Agrahari said.

Meanwhile, another trouble is brewing for Ranchi district administration and JUIDCO.

Residents of Kishoreganj are opposing the demolition of Bhagavati temple that has been served a notice as part of the land acquisition work for the construction of the proposed 2.34km Harmu flyover from LPN Nath Shahdeo Chowk on Kanke Road to Kartik Oraon Chowk.

The temple is said to be constructed around 200 years back on a three decimal plot.

"We have formed Devi Mandap Bachao Samiti and a signature campaign will be started by next week. The government can't be allowed to demolish this century-old temple in the name of infrastructure development. A delegation will meet Urban Development minister C.P. Singh in this regard. This temple was constructed by rulers of Palkot," priest Govindnath Shahdeo said.
