RMC bid for growth panel

Ranchi Municipal Corporation administrator V.S. Mishra on Monday reviewed the work of Nav Bharat Jagriti Kendra. He asked the kendra officials to create 300 pocket development committees by December 3. RMC sources said the kendra had created only 32 pockets so far. According to RMC sources, a memorandum of understanding was signed between the RMC and the kendra. “So far no pit has been dug and the administrator has asked the kendra official to create at least one such pit in the middle of the city,” sources with the RMC said.

CPI-ML salvo

The CPI-ML will organise a march to Raj Bhavan on August 9 to demand action against the officials involved in the Ranchi land scam. Party legislator Mahendra Prasad Singh said Marandi’s statement on amending the tenancy laws proved that the BJP was not willing to protect tribals’ rights.

Court work

Ranchi Civil Court and Jharkhand High Court did not function normally on Monday. While civil court was boycotted by 2,200 advocates due to alleged non-cooperation of judicial administrative system in solving their problems, judicial work remain suspended after 1.30 pm at Jharkhand High Court due to death of a retired justice Ram Chandra Prasad Sinha.

SC direction

The Supreme Court has sought information about the condition of fast-track courts in the state from Jharkhand High Court. The apex court has also asked about the number of cases pending and disposed of from the court since its establishment. The letter issued by the Supreme Court last week, directing the high court to reply within a month, was received today.

Robbery case

Police have arrested two persons, Kannu Ganjhu and Vinod Ganjhu, with 70 kg rice and a TV set from a village under Khalari police station on Monday afternoon. Police sources said: “The material recovered on Monday was stolen from the shop of one Ishwar Prasad Sinha last night along with cash of Rs 500.”

Power cut

The residents of Chadri Muhalla are facing problems due to the frequent power cuts. They have been living in the dark for the last three days. One of the residents said: “The Albert Ekka chowk remains illuminated all the time. But we are living in complete darkness for days at a stretch.”
