Jharkhand, especially Jamshedpur, will get back its reel moment of pride from March 31.

City-based singer Rajdeep Chatterjee of Indian Idol 4 fame, who is now better known as Salman Khan’s voice in Bodyguard’s title track, is all set to wow viewers as a contestant in season two of Jo Jeeta Wohi Superstar.

The 26-episode reality show on Star Plus will go on air for 13 weeks from March 31.

Produced by Endemol India, Jo Jeeta Wohi Superstar is a war between two groups of singers — Champions who are reality show winners like Aneek Dhar and Sanchita Bhattacharya, and Challengers like Rajdeep, who may not have won any show but are strong contenders. Singer Shaan and composer Shantanu Moitra will be the judges.

“I want to completely concentrate on this reality show now. After Indian Idol, this will be another platform where I can showcase my talent not only in front of the country, but also learned judges like Shaan and Shantanu Moitra from whom I can learn a lot,” said an excited Rajdeep over phone from Mumbai, where he is pursuing undergraduate studies at KBP College.

An alumnus of Loyola School, the 20-year-old whose voice was lauded by renowned names like Javed Akhtar and Anu Malik is already going great guns in the music industry, having done playback signing for Tamil and Telugu films besides singing for Himesh Reshammiya in Bodyguard.

“I am keeping my fingers crossed and expect to get a huge number of votes from Jamshedpur and of course, Jharkhand,” Rajdeep said.

Back home, his father T.K. Chatterjee has already started garnering support. Posters have been prepared by the family to generate awareness about the reality show and Rajdeep’s participation in it.

“I would appeal to the residents here to support my son as he is a good singer,” said the proud father.
