According to an FIR lodged by senior executive of Super Cassette Industries Ltd Y.P. Yadav with the Govindpur police station, about 2,000 pirated VCDs were seized from a video library-cum-sale centre owned by one Satish Kumar.
Yadav said for the past few days the company was getting secret information about a flourishing business of pirated VCDs of T-Series, a brand owned by Super Cassette Industries Ltd.
“Today we laid a trap with help of the local police and nabbed the owner of the shop along with pirated VCDs,” said Yadav. The estimated market price of the VCDs will be about Rs 1 lakh.
He informed that by selling pirated VCDs at a throwaway price of Rs 20 to 30 each, the accused was causing a huge revenue loss to the company.
