Jamshedpur, June 24: Criminals stabbed and shot a youth at his residence behind the railway running room at Sanjay Nagar under Bagbera police station today.

Kallu Mohanty (30) was rushed to MGM Medical College and Hospital, where he was declared brought dead.

Mohanty had been released from jail 26 days earlier. A petty thief, he had served time for stealing railway property and was also involved in snatching cases.

He succumbed to three bullets and had been stabbed in the stomach and shoulder.

Assistant sub-inspector of police K.D. Ravidas said by the time the police were informed, the neighbours had taken the victim to the hospital.

“Initial report suggests that Mohanty was killed in a dispute over sharing of booty,” he said, adding criminals Gopal Mukhi and Manjhla Prasad might be behind the murder.
