Jamshedpur, July 1: Dilpreet Singh Bindra, the director of catering sales at Taj Palace Hotel, New Delhi, has combined passion with humanity for a mission.
Bindra is travelling across the length and breadth of the country to urge people to stand against terror.
He will visit 60 Taj hotels in 42 locations and will cover 12,000 kilometres. The aim is to collect messages from Taj employees in his notebook and hand it over to Karambir Kang, the general manager of Taj Mahal hotel, Mumbai, who lost his family in the 26/11 terror attacks.
At the end of the journey, Bindra expects to collect around 5,000 messages including those of common man.
“The fight is against terror. I have undertaken this mission to evoke the spirits of Taj employees. The entire Taj family is there to support Karambir Kang and this is our way of saying that we all are with him,” said Bindra.
He started his journey on June 20 from New Delhi in his Ford Fusion decked up with posters of Taj, messages of peace and slogans on 26/11. Till now, he has covered about 5,122 kilometres and halted at 19 Taj hotels. The last stoppage was at Varanasi before coming to Jamshedpur. The journey will take 33 days more and Bindra will be return to Mumbai on July 23.
“While I visit all the hotels, I casually talk to the employees. This makes me understand their feelings about the incident. I believe when I meet Mr Kang, I will have lots of stories to share,” he said, for whom driving is a passion. He also has a blog, oneindiaonetaj.blogspot.com, where he narrates his everyday experience.
Though Jamshedpur did not feature in his route map, it was a halt between his last destination and next destination — The Taj Bengal, Calcutta. He feels that it was important to interact with people here as the values of the Tatas originated from here.
