WELCOME: The mega sports complex in Hotwar, Ranchi

Ranchi: Jharkhand State Sports Promotion Society (JSSPS) on Thursday once again opened registrations for its pay and play scheme to allow sports buffs use the mega sports complex in Hotwar for daily practice.

Alok Kumar, CEO of local management committee of JSSPS, said last year they had received a whopping response when they had undertaken a similar initiative.

"Around 4,000 people including schoolchildren and sportspersons had enrolled themselves in different games under pay and play scheme last year. Majority of them still practice at different time slots," he said over phone on Thursday.

Kumar further said there was no specific limit to the number of players who can enrol themselves at the stadium.

"Numbers are not an issue. The stadiums are vast and can accommodate many players in different time slots from morning to evening. At the same time, we can also simultaneously conduct training sessions for our own cadets who are enrolled in different academies run by us," said Kumar.

As per the notice released on Tuesday, players can enrol themselves in 11 games like athletics, badminton, lawn tennis, table tennis, shooting, gymnastics, basketball, taekwondo, volleyball, wrestling and swimming.

Players have to submit a one-time registration fee of Rs 50, while monthly fees vary from Rs 50 to Rs 2000 depending on the sports discipline. Schoolchildren, on the other hand, are exempted from any registration or monthly fee provided they submit proper certificates recognised by their school principal.

"Students up to Class 10 will be accommodated without any registration or membership fees. But they need to furnish a certificate from their principal. Besides, medal winners at international and national meets can also practice for free provided they submit due credentials along with the application form available on our website www.jharkhandcclsports.com," he said.

"Time slots for practice session will be given on first come, first served basis," Kumar signed off.
