Ranchi, Nov. 15: Trivial issues cropping up between married couples have no longer remained within four walls but are instead knocking the door of Woman Helpline.
Counselling at the helpline and at other NGOs have started showing good results as matters like an unkempt wardrobe, general untidiness, improper timing and helplessness by wives can be controlled.
A married couple of Lalpur, Sunita Singh and Mohan Singh (name changed on request), present at Woman Helpline, were seen fighting with each other: “She never puts bedsheet properly. Besides, my wardrobe remains disarranged and she does not listen to me to whenever I tell her to keep the things properly,” rued Mohan.
Surprisingly, another couple from Burdwan Compound who got married only six months ago were seeking advice from the helpline officials on the ground that the husband always keep the bathroom dirty and throws his wet clothes on bed.
Earlier, there were only three to four cases a month, which the NGO used to receive, but now officials claimed that they are registering around six cases every day.
The trend has been increasing over the past few months and counsellors are trying to settle the matters by social counselling and none of the applicants is going for legal counselling.
Divya Jyoti Tigga, the city coordinator of the helpline, said: “Whenever couples come here they start fighting in front of me on trivial issues. We listen to both of sides and try to pacify them so that they can put forward their points.”
