Multiple platters at Diwali fest

Jamshedpur, Oct. 3: After the Durga puja festivities, the festival of lights, Diwali, is all set to take centrestage in the steel city this month.

Golmuri Club has drawn up elaborate plans to celebrate the festival by organising a fair, the Diwali Mela, on October 20. On the cards is a treat for food aficionados, for multiple counters offering multiple cuisines promises to make the event worth a visit.

“We thought of doing something innovative so that people can actually experiment with food from different states,” said Madhushree Mukherjee, the member in-charge of entertainment at Golmuri Club.

Blending innovation with creativity, the theme for the event would be bringing the traditions of the states to the fair, which would be open to all.

Women manning the kiosks would be dressed up in the traditional attires of the respective states.

If litthis, achari alus and sattu paranthas would be available at the Jharkhand corner, tandooris, chana batoras and paneer tikkas can be tasted in the Punjab corner.

From the land of garbhas would be dhokla, khandvi and theplas while the south Indian stalls would offer Hyderabadi cuisine and vada sambar.

Chicken drumsticks, manchurian and noodles would be available for those with a Chinese tooth.

The major attraction of the show promises to be the Bumper Hamper, which would unravel a bag full of surprises for three lucky people.
