
Jamshedpur: He's a techie who wants to give a voice to endangered plants. And now, giving his voice a platform is the MIT (Massachusetts Institute of Technology) Boot Camp to be hosted by Queensland University of Technology in Brisbane, Australia, between February 7 and 16.
Aditya Om, 25, a Jamshedpur boy, who studied in Vidya Bharti Chinmaya Vidyalaya, made it among the top 100 innovators from across the world.
A BTech in electronics and telecommunications from NIT Raipur who's working with Kanpur-based Kritsnam Technologies, Om was picked from 5,000 global applicants. His tour, to cost about Rs 3.5 lakh, is being funded by organisers.
Using Internet of Things (IoT), Om worked on gabby tree, an innovation project based on IoT where plants in general and endangered species in particular got a voice and access to social networking sites such as Facebook, twitter and others, so that they could SOS officials whenever their existence was threatened.
Currently, Om works on sensors to help farmers with real-time data on soil, climate across the Indo-Gangetic plain.
"I am an innovator but need to know how to sustain an entrepreneurial idea and market it, I need guidance. Hence, this boot camp," Aditya said.
