Dhanbad: The concluding day of IIT(ISM) cultural fest Srijan 2018 was a pumped-up affair with Meet Bros, the music director-cum-singer duo of Manmeet and Harmeet Singh of Gwalior, belting out groovy numbers in the wee hours of Monday.
The duo, who got recognition as music directors of Kyaa Super Kool Hain Hum and OMG - Oh My God!, said they were blown away by the enthusiasm over 8,000 students who shook their legs and clapped for them till the end of programme around 3am.
Meet Bros, who arrived at Dhanbad at 5pm on Sunday from Mumbai, presented over 50 songs, including Baby Doll from Ragini MMS 2, Chittiyaan Kalaiyaan from Roy, during the two-hour programme at the open-air theatre that began very late because of the rains.
"The IIT(ISM) campus is beautiful and we were overwhelmed by the warm hospitality extended to us," Manmeet said.
Talking The Telegraph on Monday morning, the brothers said this was the best time for planning to make a career in music and singing.
"Latest technologies have provided multiple platforms, including video sharing and reality shows, to singers to showcase their talents," Manmeet said.
He said, earlier budding singers had no choice but to move to Mumbai to get noticed, but now they could upload their songs on YouTube and gain recognition.
Stressing the need to develop talent through hard work, Manmeet said, "These platforms may help one to become popular overnight, but one has to develop talent to sutain that stardom."
On the short career span of new-age singers, he said, "Life these days is pretty fast and people are constantly looking for new things. Singers, therefore, have a relatively shorter career and must keep up with with the changing times to ensure a long-term presence".
Manmeet said Meet Bro would launch a music channel MB Music very soon on a video-sharing platform. The duo will return to Mumbai on Tuesday.
On his impression of Dhanbad, Manmeet said streets needed to be wider and cleaner.
