Low pressure likely over Bay of Bengal, rain forecast in first week of December

Minimum readings in most parts of Jharkhand would hover between 12 and 16 degree Celsius in the next 48 hours

Weathermen on Saturday hinted at formation of a low pressure area over the south Andaman Sea around November 29 which may intensify into a cyclone over the Bay of Bengal.

Officials at IMD's Ranchi Meteorological Centre said that most of the weather models suggested that a fresh low pressure system would form over south Andaman Sea around November 29 and December 1. The system will move northwestward movement for the initial two days and then northward concentrating into a depression.

Head of IMD's Ranchi Meteorological Centre Abhishek Anand said that the system is likely to impact Jharkhand's weather in the first week of December.

"Our observations suggest that adverse weather like light rain and overcast condition is likely to prevail over central and southern Jharkhand between December 1 and 3," said Anand.

IMD's Ranchi Met Centre also issued an alert of early morning fog and mist for the next 48 hours. The minimum readings in most parts of Jharkhand would hover between 12 and 16 degree Celsius in the next two to three days.
