Jamshedpur, Jan. 8: The session on the concluding day of the archery coaching seminar at Centre for Excellence here today proved to be a brainstorming one for the coaches who had come from several parts of the country.
Unlike yesterday, when former Korean coach Park Kyung-Rae concentrated on the basics of archery, today he spent time on the chemistry of tuning the bow and the arrow, shooting technique and the training programme.
“He showed slides, which proved beneficial for us as he spoke and explained the basics of tuning on the slides. He also explained things with sketches,” said Kamlesh Sharma, coach, Rajasthan State Sports Council, Jaipur.
He added that the aspect of proper tuning of equipment was never taught to Indian coaches before. Such seminars should be regularly organised by the Archery Association of India, Sharma said.
According to Sharma the Korean said their wards should be shooting at least a 1000 arrows on a routine basis.
