Kolhan University is finally in the news for all the right reasons.
After earning kudos for hosting its successful maiden convocation and getting praised by Union rural development minister Jairam Ramesh for churning out women gold medalists, the university has decided to get its administrative and IT and examination buildings inaugurated by September.
Vice-chancellor Salil Roy confirmed the two-storeyed buildings on the premises of Tata College, Chaibasa, which were almost ready, were a priority for the varsity.
Offices of the vice-chancellor, pro vice-chancellor and other officials will be accommodated in the administrative building, which at present operates out of a temporary office on the same premises.
“We were overwhelmed with the success of the first convocation, but work does not stop here. The next thing for Kolhan University is to inaugurate the administrative building so that the officials can work comfortably. Procedures related to exams will be done at the IT and examination building, which will also house the IT department. We can expect their inauguration by September,” said Roy.
The varsity is also planning to conduct the students’ union elections this year after the new session begins in August. The admission process, which is already going on, will continue till August 16.
