Jamshedpur, Dec. 20: Consumers will now be spared the pain of having to stand in long queues at Jamshedpur Utilities and Services Company (Jusco) office to deposit their electricity bills.

Bills can now be deposited in select branches of State Bank of India. Jusco, a subsidiary of Tata Steel, has for the first time decided to go in for a tie-up with State Bank of India, which will allow consumers to deposit bills at State Bank counters.

?We had taken up the issue with the public sector bank and expect to start the bill payment facility within a month, the nitty-gritty of which is being worked out,? said A.N. Singh, chief of power business of the company.

He added that this mode of payment facility would be available from about five select branches of the bank spread out in different parts of the city.

Jusco officials admitted that at times the situation becomes chaotic as there is only one bill payment counter located at the premises of Jusco in Bistupur.

The company officials also said efforts are on to ensure electricity bills reach the consumers on time.
