JSCA names U-16 probables

Jamshedpur, Nov. 15: Jharkhand State Cricket Association today short-listed under-16 probables for Vijay Merchant Trophy, which will be held in Chaibasa from December 2.

The players have been asked to report for a selection trial that will be conducted at Birsa Munda Stadium in Chaibasa from November 17.

Rakesh Tiwari, Deepak Virat, Kausal Kishore, Wilfred Beng, Surendra Singh, Monu Kumar Singh (Ranchi), Amarendra Kumar, Amar Kumar Shah, Kumar Sunny, Chand Jha (Deoghar), Virat Singh, K.K. Yadav, Sonu Kumar Singh, Siddharth Nilabh, Kumar Suraj, Avinash Kumar (Koderma), Krishna Patel, Anil Kumar Singh, Sumit Kumar, Suraj Singh Deo, Ronit Singh (Bokaro),Pranay Kumar, Shubham Kuma, Shiv Kumar Mahato (West Singhbhum), Amarendra Pratap Singh, Md Munazir (Hazaribagh), Gaurav Banerjee, Pratik Ranjan (Dhanbad), Ashutosh Bharti (Chatra), Gaurav Kumar ,Nazir Alam, Rakesh Kumar (Searikela-Kharsawan) were the players who were listed on the 37 member strong squad .

Ritesh Ritu Raj (Latehar), Aryan Raj (Sahibganj), Amit Kumar Singh (Pakur), Saurav Bhosle (Lohardaga) and Ankit Raj Singh (Garhwa) have been named as stand-byes.

“Players were selected on basis of their performances in the recently concluded inter-district tournament,” said Aseem Kumar Singh, JSCA assistant secretary.

He added that a special eye would be kept out for players who failed to perform in the tournament but had talent.

Singh, who is also the secretary of West Singhbhum District Cricket Assocviation, added a 15-member state squad would be announced on November 20. Five cricketers will also be named as stand-byes. “We have also arranged a coaching camp for the selected outfit in Chaibasa, which is scheduled from November 21.

Jharkhand take on Tripura in their opening match, to be held in Chaibasa from December 2-4.

The state is also scheduled to take on Bengal (in Jamshedpur from December 8-10), Assam (Guwahati, December 14-16) and Orissa (Cuttack, December 20-22).
