Jharkhand State Cricket Association (JSCA) is willing to invest in Keenan Stadium's revamp, which will clear the decks for hosting international cricket matches in Jamshedpur almost after a decade, albeit with a rider.

To avail the JSCA's aid, Tata Steel - the custodian of the stadium - will have to enter into a detailed written agreement, which is likely to be a hard bargain given the high-stakes battle underway between the two sides for control over the gentleman's game in Jharkhand.

On Sunday, the JSCA managing committee, headed by Amitabh Choudhary, said it would work out a detailed investment plan for the revival of Keenan Stadium only after an accord was inked between the two sides.

"Let Tata Steel first give us in black and white what it expects from us and what will be its role (with regard to the revamped stadium) once we fulfil the needs. Accordingly, we will work out our plan. We are not averse to investing in Keenan, but their (Tata Steel officials) intentions ought to be clear. After extensive discussions on the issue, we have decided to enter into a written agreement with them," said a senior JSCA official.

Earlier this month, Tata Steel corporate services chief Rituraj Sinha, his counterpart in the sports wing Farzan Heerjee, cricketer Saurabh Tiwary and JSCA secretary Rajesh Verma had discussed the revival of Keenan Stadium that hosted an ODI for the last time in 2006. During the "preliminary talks", the Tatas apparently showed interest in international matches making a comeback to Keenan. However, for that, the stadium urgently needs a facelift.

During Sunday's meeting, the JSCA discussed preparations for the upcoming India-New Zealand ODI and India-Australia Test to be held at JSCA International Stadium Complex in Dhurwa later this year and early next year, respectively.

The JSCA managing committee also appointed new office-bearers for its smooth functioning at Sunday's meeting. Ashwini Kumar Singh and Debashish Chakravarty are the new assistant secretaries. Dinesh Upadhyay has been made senior vice-president while Sunita Lodha is the woman representative in the managing committee.

Dhanbad District Cricket Association secretary Vinay Sinha will represent various district cricket associations in the JSCA.
