Jamshedpur, June 9: The Jamshedpur Sporting Association (JSA) yesterday postponed its soccer league for the second time.
The league, which is sponsored by the United Breweries Group and known as McDowell Celebrations Jamshedpur Sporting Association Football League, will now be held from June 17. The league will kick-off with the clash of Sarna Football Academy and Urban Services at Gopal Maidan.
The JSA football sub-committee, which held a meeting at JRD Tata Sports Complex, has also decided to push back the dates of the Premier Division and A-Division matches, due to the extreme heat in the city. While the Premier Division matches will now be held from June 25 at ISWP Sports Complex, Gopal Maidan and JRD Tata Sports complex, the A-Division matches will be played at Armoury Ground from June 19 onwards.
“We had to postpone the matches due to the extreme weather conditions. Hopefully the conditions will improve by June 17,” said JSA secretary Avinash Kumar. He added that the new schedule had been drawn up in concurrence with senior office bearers of 34 JSA-affiliated clubs.
According to schedule, teams from JSA and Jugsalai Diamond Football Academy will clash in the opening match of A-Division, while Tata Football Academy will take on Sidhu Kanhu Memorial Club in the inaugural tie of the Premier Division.
Though, most of the Premier Division clubs had objected to playing at the ISWP Sports Complex, due to its secluded location, they relented later after the football committee added JRD Tata Sports complex and Gopal Maidan as the other venues.
All the matches will start from 4.30pm.
