Giridih, April 18: State minister for tourism, social welfare and housing Joba Manjhi said the government would provide funds to develop tourism spots here.
Inaugurating the “adventure and eco-tourism festival” at Khandoli dam,” she said her department was prepared to develop tourist spots in Giridih.
The festival is organised by the department of tourism, Adventure Travellers’ Academy, and the district administration.
Jharkhand state housing board chairman Najam Ansari said he was not aware that Giridih had a beautiful adventure sport.
Deputy commissioner Manikant Azad gave details of the funds given by the department of tourism for development of the Parasnath Hills and Jharkhand Dham.
Pascal Hinge, instructor from Switzerland for Paragliding, lauded the government’s efforts on adventure tourism.
The opening ceremony that began two hours behind scheduled was followed by a cultural function presented by students of a local college.
MLA Salkhan Soren expressed concern over the way the district administration had handled the concert.
The four-day festivities included hot air ballooning, paragliding, board surfing, trekking, rock climbing and boating, besides seminar on eco- tourism.
