Jamshedpur: As Covid cases continue to spike in the steel city, local administration had to depute police force at Sakchi market since Friday morning targeting against hundreds of footpath vendors.

Despite repeated attempts, over 300 footpath vendors were doing their business by evading Covid protocol, especially ignoring the social distance relationship norms.

Since Wednesday, the local administration was dislodging the footpath vendors from the already congested Sanchi market. But as soon as the police accompanying the administrative officials would leave the marketplace, the vendors wouldn't wouldn't return to their places of business, defying the administrative order.

Compelled by the arrogance on the part of the footpath vendors, the additional district magistrate (law and order) Nand Kishore Lal Kishore on Wednesday deployed police at the Sakchi market since morning.

"We had to remove the footpath vendors from the Sakchi market as the latter's would not wearing masks and maintaining the social distance from the customers, thus contributing rise in the Covid cases," said Lal while talking to The Telegraph Online.

The Sakchi market was clearer of the footpath vendors on Wednesday as police men were posted at all the strategic points to ensure that the marketplace is free from any unauthorised vendor.

During the past 24 hours, 722 persons were reported Coronavirus positive in the steel city beside two deaths due to the Covid.

Dhanbad: Virtual court sessions have been launched in Dhanbad as per the direction of High Court in view of the rise of Covid cases and all gates of the Dhanbad court premises restricti the entry of any person other than the lawyers NS through one gate near the jail gate.

Talking to The Telegraph Online on Friday, Mukul Upadhyay, tresuer of Dhanbad Bar Association said, "All Covid guidelines and laid SOPs are being observed in court in strict sense and entry of clients have been completely restricted all hearing etc is being conducted through online mode. A drop box has been installed outside the court for submitting the bail petitions etc and which are being heard on the third day through online mode."

He further said, "Though it is a difficult time for everybody including us but through united effort we can win the battle against covid and observance of SOPs and guidelines is the key in this regard."
