Independent lawmaker from Jamshedpur East constituency Saryu Roy on Tuesday staged an over three-hour protest in front of the administrative headquarters in the industrial city of Jamshedpur in Jharkhand demanding public facilities in line with the Tata lease agreement.

Later, the former cabinet minister in the erstwhile Raghubar Das-led BJP government, submitted a memorandum addressed to chief minister Hemant Soren, who also holds the urban development portfolio citing clauses of the Tata Steel deal in 1985 and the renewed lease agreement between the state government and Tata Steel in 2005.

“Till date civic facilities of Tata Steel has not reached several parts of Jamshedpur. The government has to intervene and ensure lease agreement provisions are complied with and provide same facilities in company areas and non-company areas,” the memorandum says.
