Drink hard water with a smile

The Jamshedpur-based National Metallurgical Laboratory (NML) has developed a new method of removing excessive iron from underground water. he method will be of great help to the people of the state, particularly East Singbhum, since the level of iron in underground water in the district has reached the maximum contaminant point earmarked by the World Health Organisation (WHO). he process is simple and can be carried out at home with high density utensils. The process does not require electricity.

Project

The one million tonne expansion project of Tata Steel’s G-blast furnace got a fillip with the setting up of its first cell. function was organised to mark the occasion, which was attended by senior officials of the plant and the trade union.

Blood donation

The Malayalee Christian Association of the steel city will hold a blood donation camp on March 28 for the benefit of patients suffering from cancer. Association spokesperson K.S. Mathew said the camp will be inaugurated by the chairman of Kerala samajam’s governing body A.P.R. Nair at the samajam auditorium in Sakchi.

Online trading

National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange Limited (NCDEX) on Friday launched its online commodity trading service in the steel city at the Bihar State Co-operative Bank building in Bistupur. NCDEX is a professionally managed online multi-commodity exchange programme that is promoted by the ICICI Bank, LIC, Nabard and National Stock Exchange.

Cricket

ASP defeated Linux by nine runs to lift the Genius Cup cricket tournament organised jointly by the CMC and GIIT at the G-Town grounds on Friday. Jharkhand academic council member and former ABVP national president Dineshanad Goswami gave away the trophies to the players from the winning team and the runners up.

Mahajan remark

Janata Dal (United) on Friday condemned BJP general secretary Pramod Mahajan’s statement that the party has no base in Jharkhand. Party spokesperson Umesh Singh said Mahajan has broken the coalition dharma by assing “irresponsible” remarks.
