Workers demand salary

round 500 employees of Subernarekha Multi-purpose Project (SMP) demonstrated in front of the office of the chief engineer’ at Sankusai in Mango on Tuesday morning. They were demanding, among other things, regular payment of their salaries. B.K. Mandal, who was leading the protest, threatened the SMP authorities that their agitation would be intensified if the demands were not considered immediately.

Burglary

Unidentified men burgled the house of Anant Rana at Dumjori village in Jadugora early on Tuesday morning. According to sources, the criminals had broken open the door and decamped with valuables and cash from the house at around 3 am on Tuesday. The inmates woke up on hearing sounds from the room, and barking of street dogs. But by the time they swung into action, the men had fled the spot. In this connection, the police have registered a case of burglary.

Accident death

Police constable Mohammad Samsher died when the motorcycle he was travelling on as pillion rider dashed into another on NH 33 under MGM police station on Tuesday morning. The victim posted at Mango police station, succumbed to his injuries in the evening. According to the police, the driver of the motor cycle (not the one in which the victim was travelling) managed to escape with his vehicle.

Bandh

BJP MP and Jharkhand Disom Party leader, Salkhan Murmu, has urged the tribals and moolvasis to make the December 9-Jharkhand bandh a success. The MP said: “The existence of the tribals and moolvasis would be in jeopardy if we do not prove our solidarity on the day of the bandh.” He also criticised JMM and CPI-ML for trying to hoodwink the people of the state on domicile issue. In the meantime Jharkhand People's Party (JPP) president Surya Singh Besra has also in a statement, urged the people to make the December 9-Jharkhand bandh a success. JPP would also take part in the bandh along with the JDP.

Farewell meet

“Tata Steel takes good care of its employees and their families,” said a retired employee of Tisco Tube Division while speaking at a function for retired persons in the company's general office, Recreation Club Canteen, on Monday evening. Around 33 retired persons were given farewell by the company. The spouses of the retired employees were also present at the farewell meet.
