The statewide lockdown because of novel coronavirus has turned out to be a unique experience for capital residents.

Some are enjoying work from home and some are happy sleeping. There are a few for whom this is an opportunity to spend time with their families.

An engineer with a multinational company, Gautam Tandasi, said for him work from home is a one-of-its-kind experience.

“Self help is the best help and Internet is the best messenger for me. It took some time for me to convert my home into office but now everything is fine. My children are taking online lessons. Information technology has come as a great help for us,” Tandasi said.

Businessman Rajendra Singh was happy that he was getting enough sleep.

“I work in the transport sector. After the lockdown all my trucks are stranded, but I am happy that I am get the opportunity to sleep during the day. When God shuts one door, he opens another,” Singh said.

Civil court lawyer Mohammed Afroz, however, appeared worried.

“I feel like a retired person. I realised that sitting idle is tougher than working day and night,” Afroz said.

Asked about problems he is facing because of the virus, he said: “Life is better in this situation too. If the district administration had arranged for home delivery of gas and safe water, things would have been better,” he said.

Zoology lecturer at Ranchi University Ashok Nag said he is using the opportunity for academic work. “I am busy writing my PhD thesis and keeping tabs on the development across the world in the field of treatment of novel coronavirus infection. This is a rare experience,” Nag said.
