Ranchi: Ranchi police have lodged an FIR against unidentified individuals in a failed abduction bid of a 50-year old woman on Friday which ended a few hours later after an auto-rickshaw driver spotted them while dragging the woman out of a vehicle in Getalsud dam under Sikidiri police station area.

The victim, originally from Torpa block of Khunti district but residing in Kushum Bihar locality at Morabadi under Bariatu thana area from where she was abducted, was found in an unconscious state, possibly because she was drugged. A daily wage earner, she has been living away from her husband for the past eight years.

Regaining consciousness late in the evening, she told mahila police that had she tagged along two men who approached her in the afternoon and promised her job as a maid. She did not know the men and could say nothing further about them.

With the woman with them, the two men drove along the Ormanjhi road until they reached Getalsud dam under Sikidiri police station area and tried to drag their victim out of the vehicle.

At this point an auto-rickshaw driver spotted them and raised an alarm.

"That auto-rickshaw driver saw two persons throwing that woman in the forest area. He raised an alarm and asked them to stop. They manhandled the driver and injured him. Later on they threw the woman and sped towards Kanke locality via Ormanjhi. But the auto-rickshaw remembered the registration number of the vehicle and informed police," said Sikidiri OC Praveen Saina.

Sikidiri police informed their Kanke counterparts who started a search for the vehicle. At Boreya under Kanke thana area, the abductors took a U-turn when they saw the cops and sped towards Boreya village. Kanke police along with local residents chased them after which they abandoned the vehicle, a white SUV (JH 01BN 7903), registered in the name of one Bin Mohammad Ansari of Harmu, at Madan Mohan temple and fled. Police seized the vehicle and found two mobile phones inside.

Blood stains were found on the vehicle.

"It looks like a case of kidnapping for sexual abuse. Blood stains apparently belongs to the auto-driver who was bleeding after attack," said Kanke OC Yashoda.
