Macaulay Culkin in Home Alone

I appreciate the fact that some movie directors recognise children as brave, bold and courageous, rather than just innocent and easy victims. I love films that feature such children, so I love the film Home Alone part I, II and III.

All the three films show the angelic, and downright devil-ish side of the main protagonist Kevin.

Kevin has traces of Dennis (the menace?) in him and can be quite a handful for those who crosses his path. But he is also a very kind and gentle lad, who loves his mother dearly. And he is agile and alert.

His exploits seem even more clever and hilarious, when we see the two bumbling thieves that he is matched up against. The boss played by Joe Pesci and his sidekick fall into the most outrageous mess, all for Kevin .

At the end of the film, rather than think that they deserved it audiences start feeling sorry for the two guys.

Hill Top, my school

For me, my school is arguably the best school that Jamshedpur has to offer.

I believe that the school embodies its principals in every aspect, be it academics, sports, extra-curricular activities or teacher-student interaction.

This helps to create a free and open atmosphere between the students and teachers. Here the teachers are not merely facilitators of learning, but they advise us when we are lost and act as guides. I love the fact that the school is a disciplined one and I am sure that one day it will be the best school in the entire eastern region of India.

Dowry death

I have always heard that ?marriages are made in heaven?.

But they happen on earth, and as a barter or exchange between two families.

The society is reeling under the curse of dowry today. In this large society, the little girls have to face this huge challenge of ?getting married?.

More than the youngsters it is the experienced and the aged who cling on to this heinous practice in the name of ?tradition?.

I believe that every neighbourhood should have an association that fights this menace. Marriage is a little more than an economic transaction, and therefore, it should be treated as such.

If the previous generations are bent on proving it as one, then why should the youngsters respect the act of marriage? I also believe that the police should intervene and see to it that dowry is neither received nor taken, in any town across India. Then only will all the other problems related to female infanticide all others be tackled.

Bapuji calls

Mahatma Gandhi, born on October 2, is the person I admire the most.

His thoughts, his beliefs, his words are all very deep and significant in today?s world.

Gandhiji said ?I have nothing new to teach to the world. Truth and non-violence are as old as hills,? What I love about Bapuji is the fact that he treated everyone as one and equal.

He had the infinite capacity and patience, so he was able to help even those who misunderstood him.

He was able to unite a very divided India under the British, and was all for peace and patience.

He is not only a very famous man in India but his image and call for non-violence has reverbated all over the world.

He has stood as a symbol for the downtrodden all over the world and not just in India.
