How good is the eye care facility in the city?

There are provisions for good eye care facilities in the steel city. With the introduction of computerised eye testing in the city, experts are now getting more time to go into the details and treat their patients better. The experts are also ensuring that their clinics are equipped with the latest technology, as people will settle nothing short of the best as far as facilities go.

What are the latest equipment to have come to the city for advanced eye care?

Laser technology is increasingly being used by experts for effective cataract surgery. Today, laser technology helps in understanding problems better and not only that, we have brought the latest in anterior and posterior segment eye treatment. A lot of improved technologies have also been added in the emulsification sector but the city is yet to grow in terms of infrastructure for bringing in the latest equipment in all the specialised sectors.

What are the major eye problems that people suffer from in the city?

Being an industrial city, people are severely affected by large amount of dust present in the atmosphere. As a result, eye allergies are very common among individuals. There are also quite a few cases of people coming in with glaucoma and other such diseases.

What are the basic precautions that one should take at home for proper eye care?

The most important is to wash the eye with normal water for at least five times a day. That will not only help to keep the vision clear, but will also ensure that dust and dirt are kept at a distance from the sensitive organ. Care should also be taken to wear protective glasses while driving vehicles on the road to prevent the entry of any foreign particles. Even for the slightest irritation, one must consult a doctor and not any chemist.
