May 27: Keeping the trend intact, girls outshone boys in the CBSE Class X exam across the state even as Akshat Agarwal of Delhi Public School, Dhanbad, hogged limelight securing 97.8 per cent marks.
The students secured high marks in mathematics, science and Sanskrit, but poor score in Hindi came as a rude shock to some of them in Jamshedpur.
Taking a dig at the growing trend for private tuition, most of the students scoring more than 95 per cent marks said classroom teaching was their key to success.
While fairer sex reigned supreme in most of the schools in Ranchi, Shalini Bhardwaj of DPS scored 97.2 per cent marks. The toppers of DAV, Shyamli, and DAV, Hehal, were also girls.
Bhardwaj, who had opted for Sanskrit, has scored above 95 in all the five papers.
?Attending classes regularly with attention is the secret of my success,? she said.
Not supporting the trend of private coaching and tuition, Bhardwaj said personal labour and hard work is all that matters at the end.
Shivangi of DAV, Shyamli, came out in flying colours securing 96.8 per cent. Kumar Saurabh and Somnath De of the school also scored above 96 per cent.
The trio scripted record, as no student from the school had scored beyond 95 per cent in the Class X board examination since 1979, said DAV, Shyamli, principal D.R. Singh.
DAV, Hehal, students, too, fared well in the exam. Sheerja Sinha brought laurels to the school scoring 96.4 per cent marks.
Though Sheerja has taken tuition, she feels that attending classes regularly was her key to success.
