Ranchi: From clubs, football grounds to restaurants, the capital is busy making elaborate arrangements to screen the live FIFA World Cup final between France and Croatia on Sunday.

State urban development department along with Jharkhand Urban Infrastructure Development Company (JUIDCO) has mounted 11 giant screens at Morabadi Ground for live telecast of the final match between France and Croatia from Luzhniki Stadium in Moscow.

Besides, to keep visitors engaged prior to the match, which starts at 8.30pm, organisers plan to showcase different programmes covering the cultural aspects of the state and several touristy locations from 6.30pm.

At Ranchi Club, one of the posh clubs in the capital, a giant screen has been installed on its premises where members will be able to enjoy the final while enjoying plateful of yummy snacks and drinks.

"There's nothing like watching the World Cup final on a big screen and with your friends. It will be a memorable evening," said club president Sandeep Kapoor.

Among others, Deshpriya Club of Tharpakhna will also organise a special gathering for over 80 members in the evening. "We have a courtyard where we plan to install large-screen television sets," said club secretary Asim Sarkar.

Majlish, a cultural community of Bengali speaking employees of Mecon and SAIL units in Ranchi, also plans to set a giant screen at Mecon Community Hall. "We haven't finalised anything yet but hopefully we will install a large screen. We cant wait to watch the match and cheer for our favourite team," said Golap Mahamnad Choudhury, an executive committee member of Majlish.

Food and football go hand in hand and keeping this in mind several restaurants in Ranchi have dished out lavish food to go with the season.

Radisson Blu is currently organising 'Food Bowl and Carniball' at its Heroes restaurant on Main Road. Not only have they named various dishes after celebrity footballers but is offering exciting discounts on beverages.

Mrinal Bakshi, executive chef of Capitol Hill hotel that is currently holding sizzlers food fest, said they were expecting a good footfall on Sunday. "Sunday is the last day of our sizzlers festival and we expect more and more customers to drop in. There are LED TV sets at our restaurant so all customers will be able to watch the final live while enjoying some good food," added Bakshi.

Workshop

Play Jharkhand organised a workshop-cum-quiz on football for children at the observation home in Dumardaga, Ranchi, on Friday.

The children were first introduced to the designs made by international designers at the poster exhibition in Audrey House. The winning team was awarded with batches of Play Jharkhand.
