Fog alert in Jharkhand: many trains cancelled

South Eastern Railway (SER) on Monday cancelled several long-distance passenger trains in view of the upcoming foggy season. The notification was issued from the Calcutta-based based headquarters of SER on Monday.

Both the Up and Dn Santragachi-Anand Vihar Express ( 22857 / 22858) which travel via Tatanagar railway station will remain cancelled from December 6 to February 28. The Hatia-Anand Vihar Express ( 12873 / 12874 ) in both directions will also not run from November 30 to February 28. The 18103/18104 Tatanagar-Amritsar Jallianwala Bagh Express will not be operational from November 29 to February 28.

Moreover the frequency of several trains has been reduced over the winter fog. The 12365/12366 Patna-Ranchi-Patna Express will remain cancelled on every Friday in December, January and February.

A spokesperson of South Eastern Railway said, " Depending on the weather condition we might cancel more trains under our jurisdiction." He said they are in constant touch with IMD offices getting updates on fog and other weather conditions.
