Jamshedpur, Sept. 9: College students in the state often face ‘out-of-syllabus’ questions in their examinations. As a solution, Kolhan University vice chancellor Father Beni Ekka has asked students to report the matter to the invigilator.
Recently, students appearing for their first-year exams under Kolhan University had come across such a problem in their Alternative English, paper. Though some students appearing at the Jamshedpur Worker’s College reported the matter to the invigilator concerned, the latter did not take up the matter. The students are now scared of getting low marks in the paper.
“Students are actually unaware of the rules. If such a thing happens, students should always report to the invigilator, who in turn should consult the subject teacher. The teacher then should inform about it to the principal, who in turn should send a letter to the university. This will help the university take corrective measures and act against the person who had set the question paper,” said Father Beni Ekka.
Father Ekka, however admitted that things like this were a result of negligence.
“We are not aware of any such problem but if this is the case, the students should now report it to the principal, who will write to the university. We can at least help the students get average grace marks,” said S.S. Razi, registrar of Kolhan University.
According to varsity rules, the person who sets wrong questions can be debarred for five years based on a formal complaint by principal of any college under the university. The complaint helps the varsity issue fresh examination dates, if required.
