Jamshedpur, May 27: Rajdeep Chatterjee or Sreejita Kar, Class XII students of Loyola School, could well relive the success of Abhijeet Sawant.
Having won a chance to compete at the fourth season of musical reality show Indian Idol, the duo are anxiously waiting for a call from the organisers to fly to Mumbai.
“We will be informed in 15 days about the final dates,” said Sreejita, recalling her nervousness in front of the judges when she auditioned in Calcutta recently. The judges for the fourth season are Anu Malik, Sonali Bendre, Kailash Kher and Javed Akhtar.
But, Sreejita (16) who sang Mindblowing Mahiya and a Rajasthani folk song at the auditions, said: “The judges were highly appreciative of the tonal quality of my voice.”
“I was asked to sing from different genres and was labelled a complete singer,” said Rajdeep, who has been learning music from the age of two. At present, he is training under Chandrakant Apte.
Born in a “musical” family, Rajdeep’s parents are trained singers, but not professionals.
While Rajdeep was a champion in Fankaar, a regional reality show, Sreejita was the mega final champion at regional music show Tarana.
She has been training under Ajay Sen Chowdhury since she was eight. Having lost her father at a young age, it was her mother’s encouragement that helped her. “My father was not trained, but had a beautiful voice,” said Sreejita.
“I feel very proud of my daughter. She must win and come back,” said her mother Binita.
