
Dhanbad and Ranchi won their respective matches in the senior inter-district (Elite Group) for HP Bodhanwala Trophy at separate venues in Jamshedpur on Tuesday.
The former beat hosts Jamshedpur by 57 runs in the super division tie at Keenan Stadium while Ranchi defeated Bokaro by 8 wickets at Telco grounds. Electing to bat first, Dhanbad posted an impressive 281 for 7 in the stipulated 50 overs. Subroto Ghosh top scored with a breezy 67 off 75 balls, which contained five boundaries and four sixes. Shivam Sharma and Rahul Ghosh struck 60 and 51 runs to swell the Dhanbad total.
Jamshedpur's Mithun Mukherjee, Nishikant Kumar and Samar Quadri picked up two wickets each.
In reply, the steel city outfit managed to score 229 for 9 before the overs ran out. A quick fire 102 (105 balls, 8x4, 3x6) by Man of the Match Rahil Reyaz Khan was the highlight of Jamshedpur's chase. However, his effort came a cropper as no other batsmen of his team could contribute substantially with the bat.
Rohit Sahu and Arnav Sinha scored 40 and 36, respectively, but it was not enough. Coal town's Amit Mishra, Sujit Roy and Asif Mansuri claimed two wickets apiece.In the other match, Ranchi made short work of Bokaro's modest score of 126 in 33.5 overs with Man of the Match Monu Kumar Singh scalping five wickets. Prakash Munda top scored with 68 runs (111 balls, 7x4) for making the Ranchi chase an easy affair. The top two teams from the super league will become winners and runners-up.
In the relegation round, West Singhbhum and Deoghar won their matches in Ranchi. The former posted a comfortable 170-run over Jamtara while Deoghar prevailed over Hazaribagh by 9 runs.
Batting first, West Singhbhum put up 270 for 7 in 50 overs. In reply Jamtara only managed a paltry 100 in 23 overs. Ashish Yadav was the star performer for the winning team with a fluent 66 (9x4, 2x6). Kaushal Kumar Singh and Anulkul Roy were instrumental in applying brakes on the Jamtara total by claiming three wickets each.
In the other outing, Deoghar scored 149 all out in 37.3 overs before dismissing their opponents for 140. Kumar Mridul top-scored with 46 for Deoghar.
