Dhanbad, July 14: Dhanbad deputy commissioner Sunil Kumar Burnwal, an IAS officer of 1997 batch, today assumed the charge of the office at the district collectorate.
Talking to the media at his office, Burnwal said that shifting more than 2,300 non-BCCL families living in Jharia fire zones to Jharia Vihar Colony in Belgarhia would be his top priority.
Burnwal, who also attended a meeting of Jharia Rehabilitation Development Authority (JRDA) in the capacity of its managing director, said that he would also visit Belgarhia on Thursday to review the ongoing rehabilitation work in the colony.
Around 265 families from Jharia’s different fire affected areas, including Bokapahari, Luj Pit, Lodna and Tisra, have already been shifted to Belgarhia in two months.
Burnwal, who was acting as commissioner of Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA) before his Dhanbad assignment, said that he would ensure speedy implementation of the rural job scheme in villages.
He added that he would study the main issues for a week beginning today and then fix his priorities after conducting a review.
The DC categorically said that he would not tolerate any delay in execution of development works. Commenting on the slow pace of census work in the district, Burnwal said efforts would be made to complete the process before the deadline on August 11.
Burnwal, who had served as the project director of Jharkhand Education Council, said that he would ensured effective implementation of schemes like Sarva Shikha Abhiyan.
