
Bokaro and Dhanbad posted comfortable wins in the senior inter-district (Elite Group) super league tournament for HP Bodhanwala Trophy at separate venues in Jamshedpur on Wednesday.
The former defeated hosts Jamshedpur by 59 runs at Keenan Stadium while Dhanbad trounced Ranchi by six wickets at Telco grounds.
Keshav Kumar and Sumeet Kumar joined the forces to propel Bokaro total to a respectable 271 all out in 49.4 overs after the outfit opted to take first strike. Man of the Match Keshav struck a fluent 63 while Sumeet scored 56. Kumar Deobrat chipped in with 43.
For Jamshedpur, Nishikant Kumar and Mithun Mukherjee claimed four and two wickets, respectively.
In reply, the steel city team were dismissed for 212 in 49.1 overs with Virat Singh emerging top scorer with 44. Ishank Jaggi made 40. Rahul Prasad took maximum three wickets for Bokaro. A breezy 108 by Man of the Match Shivam Sharma and timely unbeaten 91 by Surender Dahiya, respectively, helped Dhanbad surpass Ranchi's total of 262/7 in the stipulated 50 overs. Both the batters played responsibly and negated the Ranchi attack with aplomb.
Ajat Shatru Singh's 70 went in vain as Ranchi bowlers failed to contain the Dhanbad batsmen. Nazim Siddiqui (59) and Kaushal Singh (36) also contributed for Ranchi but the coal town finally had the last laugh.
In the senior inter-district relegation matches in Ranchi, West Singhbhum defeated Deoghar by 32 runs while Jamtara came better against Hazaribagh by six wickets.

All India Public Sector Football Tournament-2016 kicked off at Hill View Stadium of Barka-Sayal area in Ramgarh district on Tuesday.
Thirteen public sector undertaking companies - Air India , Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd, Employees State insurance Corporation, Food Corporation of India, Oil and Natural Gas Commission, Oil India Ltd, Rashtriya Chemicals and Fertilisers Ltd, Neyveli Lignite Corporation, Garden Reach Shipbuilders and Engineers Ltd, Reserve Bank of India, State Bank of Travancore, J&K Bank and the hosts Coal India Ltd - are participating in the tourney, which will conclude on Monday.
In the inaugural match played on Tuesday, J&K Bank triumphed over RBI by 2-1 goals.
