Ranchi, Oct. 7: On the occasion of Mahalaya, a collection of Bangla devotional songs titled “Devi Annapurna”, rendered by Madhumita, was released today by Beethoven Records, Kolkata's leading recording company.
Madhumita herself has composed the lyrics and the music. Her melodious voice is all set to mesmerise music lovers with the fine collection of devotional songs. The numbers featured in the album reflects an understanding of the genre.
The mellow approach to music and the rendition are in tune with the lyrics. This also enables the listener to enjoy the music. The songs are based on North Indian and South Indian classical music and folk songs.
The score of the song, 'Tumi Mahamaya' has strains of South-Indian music while the song 'Trijagate Alo Koro' has been tuned in the Nagri style. On the other hand, 'Jai Jai Jai Annada' is based on a Gujarati folk tune.
Madhumita is ready with her next release also. Rajat Bandopadhyay, an eminent poet and lyricist of the capital, has penned the lyrics of this devotional album.
Madhumita has inherited a rich voice and a fine music sense from her mother Sabita Acharya, a teacher and a singer.
