CRY FOR  AZADI

Former president of JNU Students' Union Kanhaiya Kumar performs his azadi song before a crowd of 6,000 at a school maidan opposite Hazaribagh district collectorate on Sunday afternoon. As a part of his nationwide rally from Kanyakumari to Punjab, Kanhaiya made a pit stop in Hazaribagh to urge people to unite and save India from religious fanaticism. Welcomed by Left leaders, including CPI former MP Bhuvneshwar Prasad Mehta, Kanhaiya said without a strong Opposition, the Modi government was damaging the country's social fabric in the name of religion and beef. Taking a dig at Narendra Modi, he said in the aftermath of convicted Dera Sacha Sauda guru Gurmeet Ram Rahim's arrest, the Prime Minister had issued a peace message on Twitter when Internet was banned in the violence-hit states.
