Ranchi: Chief minister Raghu-bar Das on Friday said next year's state budget would have adequate provisions for setting up cold storages in every block, besides giving special attention to combat unemployment and migration of labourers, especially girls and women.
Das made these revelations during an interactive session with representatives of different sections of society from various parts of South Chhotanagpur division. The meeting, held in Simdega, was held to discuss people's expectations from the government in the budget.
Participants included rural development minister Neelkanth Singh Munda, MLAs Vimla Pradhan, Shiv Shankar Oraon and Gangotri Kujur, development commissioner Amit Khare and South Chhotanagpur divisional commissioner D.C. Mishra.
During the session, people complained about meagre earnings from agriculture, absence of quality educational facilities for poor children, teenagers and youths and mass migration to other states in search of employment. They also demanded measures to put a stop to witchcraft killings.
"So long, the budgets were being prepared by babus sitting in air-conditioned chambers. Now, we are approaching every section to inquire about their needs. It is your money which ought to be spent with your consent," the chief minister stressed.
While reminding about PM Narendra Modi's dream to make India prosperous and clean by 2022, Das said every person should make and honest effort to achieve the goal.
