Jamshedpur, July 1: Steel city climbers Talim Ansari and Aman Verma are now focusing on scaling the international wall.

The teen climbers are eyeing slots in the national team for the Asian Youth Sport Climbing Championship to be held in Singapore in October. While Talim will compete in the junior section, Aman will try his luck in the sub-junior category. Both will perform in lead, bouldering and speed climbing events.

Talim and Aman are currently preparing for a selection trial for the Singapore fixture, which is scheduled to be held in New Delhi next month.

The cadets of sport climbing cradle run by Tata Steel Adventure Foundation (TSAF) are sweating it out daily in the morning and evening under the watchful eyes of route setter Bibhas Roy.

"My wards are looking forward to the selection trial. A solid performance may help them win a ticket to Singapore. Both are promising and have improved their climbing skills a lot," said Roy.

"All national medallists in sport climbing will try their luck at the trials to be conducted by Indian Mountaineering Foundation (IMF)," said Roy.

Talim (14) had claimed the bouldering gold at the 22nd national Sport Climbing Competition in Bangalore in December last year while Aman (14) bagged silver at the same event.

"I am working very hard for the selection trials. I never miss my training schedule. I would love to represent my country and win medals," said Talim, a Class IX student of DBMS Lilliput School.

" During my daily drills, I try to climb the artificial wall till the highest point. Sir (Roy) has given me some tips on speed climbing. I think I will do well," said the Class VII student of Kerala Public School, Kadma.

"I am optimistic about their performance. Both are talented climbers. I wish them good luck," said TSAF manager Hemant Gupta.
