Bokaro, Dec. 26: A Class XII student was found hanging in his rented room at Sector III-B, Bokaro, late last night. No suicide note was found at the spot.

Sixteen-year-old Rakesh Tiwary, who used to study at Saraswati Vidya Mandir (SVM), was supposed to go home to Bermo last evening on winter vacation. But he was found hanging from the ceiling fan in the outhouse of Bokaro Steel quarter No. 378, where he had been staying on rent.

Police said the boy was last seen moving around with his friends in the afternoon. He had told his friends that he was going to Subhash Nagar, Bermo, to meet his family and even called his father Santosh Tiwary to tell him that he would reach there around 8pm.

However, when he did not reach home - merely 30km from Bokaro steel city - till 9pm, Santosh, a businessman, called Rakesh on his mobile phone repeatedly. Rakesh did not respond.

Fearing the worse, Santosh rushed to Bokaro. He reached his quarter around 10.40pm but found the door locked from inside. Santosh then called the landlord and broke open the door to found his son hanging.

Immediately, City police station was called and the body was brought down.

Bokaro DSP Ajay Kumar said no suicide note had been found and the reason behind the death could not be ascertained immediately.

"We have called some of Rakesh's friends for interrogation while his phone call details are being probed for leads. We are also waiting for the post-mortem report," the DSP told The Telegraph.
